NO open flames, NO sparks, and NO smoking. NO contact with strong oxidants.
Powder, alcohol-resistant foam, water spray, carbon dioxide.
EXPLOSION Above 39░C explosive vapour/air mixtures may be formed.
Above 39░C use a closed system, ventilation, and explosion-proof electrical equipment.
In case of fire: keep drums, etc., cool by spraying with water.

AVOID EXPOSURE OF (PREGNANT) WOMEN!
IN ALL CASES CONSULT A DOCTOR!
  • INHALATION
    		• Confusion. Dizziness. Headache. Nausea. Unconsciousness. Vomiting. Weakness.
    		Ventilation, local exhaust, or breathing protection.
    		Fresh air, rest. Artificial respiration if indicated. Refer for medical attention.
  • SKIN
    		• MAY BE ABSORBED! (Further see Inhalation).
    		Protective gloves. Protective clothing.
    		Remove contaminated clothes. Rinse skin with plenty of water or shower. Refer for medical attention.
  • EYES
    		• Blurred vision.
    		Safety goggles or face shield.
    		First rinse with plenty of water for several minutes (remove contact lenses if easily possible), then take to a doctor.
  • INGESTION
    		• (further see Inhalation).
    		Do not eat, drink, or smoke during work.
    		Rinse mouth. Induce vomiting (ONLY IN CONSCIOUS PERSONS!). Refer for medical attention.
    SPILLAGE DISPOSAL STORAGE PACKAGING & LABELLING
    Collect leaking and spilled liquid in sealable containers as far as possible. Wash away remainder with plenty of water (extra personal protection: self-contained breathing apparatus).
    		Fireproof. Separated from strong oxidants. Keep in the dark.
    		Airtight.

     COLOURLESS LIQUID , WITH CHARACTERISTIC ODOUR.

    CHEMICAL DANGERS:
     The substance can form explosive peroxides. The substance decomposes on burning and on contact with strong caustics, producing toxic gas. Reacts with strong oxidants causing fire and explosion hazard.

    OCCUPATIONAL EXPOSURE LIMITS (OELs):
     TLV: 5 ppm; 16 mg/m3 (as TWA) (skin) (ACGIH 1992-1993).
    MAK: 5 ppm; 15 mg/m3; II,1; H; B (1993).


    		ROUTES OF EXPOSURE:
     The substance can be absorbed into the body by inhalation, through the skin, and by ingestion.

    INHALATION RISK:
     A harmful contamination of the air can be reached rather quickly on evaporation of this substance at 20░C.

    EFFECTS OF SHORT-TERM EXPOSURE:
     The substance irritates the eyes and the respiratory tract. The substance may cause effects on the central nervous system, liver, and kidneys. Exposure could cause lowering of consciousness. Medical observation is indicated.

    EFFECTS OF LONG-TERM OR REPEATED EXPOSURE:
     The liquid defats the skin. The substance may have effects on the blood , resulting in anaemia and lesions of blood cells. May cause reproductive toxicity in humans.

    Depending on the degree of exposure, periodic medical examination is indicated. The odour warning when the exposure limit value is exceeded is insufficient. Check for peroxides prior to distillation; eliminate if found. Keep in dark because of the possible formation of explosive peroxides.
